Leadership Program at Camp Menzies

These specially designed leadership programs will show you how to develop and lead camp programs, while improving your problem solving skills and having fun with camp friends.  You will have the chance to gain supervised hands-on experience working with younger campers.  To register for these programs, please use the Camp Menzies Leadership Program application packet.


COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT) or WRANGLER-IN-TRAINING (WIT)

 

Improve your leadership skills and learn about the needs of children in the camp setting.  Explore the basics of developing and delivering camp program and camp operations.  W.I.T.s will shadow riding staff at the horse corral and must have a minimum of ten hours previous horseback riding experience.  You will also plan and carry out an overnight trip experience out of camp.  Sleep in a tent. 

*Prerequisite: At least 15 years old or entering tenth grade
Fee: $425


ADVANCED CIT or WIT

 

Focus on camp management and gain practical experience in various areas of the camp operation. Practice your leadership and program skills while working with younger campers. You will also participate in at least one trip out of camp. Sleep in a tent.

*Prerequisite: At least 16 years old or entering eleventh grade and completion of the C.I.T. program or its equivalent

APPRENTICE CIT or WIT

 

Use your leadership and program skills as you work under the supervision of camp staff, in units, or at your favorite specialty area. Carry out an individual project and learn more about camp management. In an effort to provide more flexibility for girls participating in the Apprentice CIT or WIT program, each girl will create an individualized schedule prior to the start of the summer season. This will include attending one of three orientation weekends and three to six of our camp sessions or weekend programs. To apply please complete the Leadership Program Application packet and the Apprentice CIT/WIT supplement.

*Prerequisite: At least 17 years old or entering twelfth grade and completion of the C.I.T. or W.I.T. program or its equivalent

Orientation Weekend Options

 

Each Apprentice CIT/WIT is required to attend on of the following orientation weekends at Camp Menzies. During the weekend girls will work with the leadership director on their individualized project and finalize their summer schedules. Transportation to and from camp will be provided.
