Safety Resources

Welcome to the NEW
Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints

In an effort to streamline the information essential to new and continuing leaders, GSUSA and Girl Scouts Heart of Central California have revised existing leader resources into two focused publications – Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints.

Volunteer Essentials is comprised of edits from our council Leader Resource Book and Money Matters, and the GSUSA publication Safety-Wise, into one publication that holds all the answers to your leadership questions.  This document is available both in a hard copy (1 for each troop leader and co-leader) and also below.

Inside the Safety Activity Checkpoints publication, you will find detailed information about providing safe program opportunities for girls in aquatics, land sports, the internet, and more. This publication contains the same important information formerly found in Safety-Wise, but it has been updated and new content regarding high risk activities, product sales, and internet use has been added. This document is available in both a hard copy (1 for each troop) and also on the council Web site.

We encourage you to take the time to review each of these documents and use them to their full extent to keep you advised of all current GSUSA and council policies, guidelines and safety standards.  There are expected to be additions to both of these documents periodically so be aware of that and be sure and add that new information to your copy.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your service unit manager or membership director.
