Family Partnership Campaign FAQ's
Family Partnership donations help keep Girl Scout programs affordable and support financial assistance requests from local girls for membership fees, uniforms and books. All contributions stay within our council, providing Girl Scout opportunities to girls within our own communities. Girl Scouts Heart of Central California is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
Q: Why should I give to Girl Scouts?
A: Girl Scouts is the premier leadership development organization for girls, building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. By giving to the Family Partnership Campaign, you are giving to girls and investing in tomorrow’s leaders. We want every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout to have the opportunity. That’s what your Family Partnership gift does.
Every penny of the $15 membership fee goes directly to Girl Scouts of the USA, which means our council must raise funds in other ways to support local Girl Scouts. That is why we ask families like you to support us locally through the Family Partnership Campaign. You know better than anyone the power of Girl Scouting. Last year with support from our families, we raised over $26,000 and we encourage our families to help us meet our current goal of $38,000.
Q: How much should I give?
A: Giving is a personal decision—please give what feels appropriate and know that your investment allows us to provide more for your daughter and thousands of other girls who deserve unique and memorable leadership experiences.
All gifts of $5 and above will be recognized with a Family Partnership bookmark and a tax-acknowledgment letter. Families who make a gift of $25 or more, per member, will receive a special Family Partnership patch in a unique color each year. Recognitions will be mailed directly to the contributing family within six to eight weeks after the donation is made.
Q: How can I give?
A: The Family Partnership Campaign runs year-round, and we encourage our families to give at a time that feels right for them. We provide three easy ways to donate throughout the year:
- Make a Family Partnership gift as you renew your membership or sign up as a new member using either the girl or adult registration forms.
- Visit www.girlscoutshcc.org and select “Donate Now” to make a Family Partnership gift online today.
- Print out the Family Partnership Flier online to mail your donation.
Q: Can a Girl Scout troop donate to the Family Partnership Campaign?
A: Many Girl Scout troops choose to donate a portion of their troop funds to charitable organizations. When doing so, we encourage troops to consider making that gift to the Family Partnership Campaign. By giving as a troop, girls share the lifelong memories and benefits of Girl Scouting with their sister Girl Scouts.
Q: Why can’t we continue to rely on Girl Scout cookie sales to support our programs?
A: The Girl Scout Cookie Program is a wonderful business literacy program that teaches girls organization, responsibility, goal-setting skills, money management, business etiquette and marketing skills. Today those dollars support much of our programming, but not all. We must engage our families and the outside community to support the leadership development of our girls. Building strong, successful women requires diverse and healthy funding sources, which is why the council works to secure financial support outside of the Cookie Program.
