Who can join?
Girl Scouts is for every girl, everywhere. Girl Scouts welcomes girls of all religions, nationalities, economic backgrounds and abilities. Girls, grades K - 12, can join. Identified by the membership pin, all members share in the Girl Scout Promise & Law, pay national dues, and follow safety guidelines. The uniform, though not required for participation, is a powerful symbol that says, "I belong to Girl Scouts!"
How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee to be a member of Girl Scouts of the USA is $15. This includes accident insurance which covers participation in Girl Scout activities. To ensure that all girls can participate in Girl Scouts, financial assistance may be requested from the council.
What types of things do Girl Scouts do?
Girl Scouts is not just about cookies, camp, and crafts! Girl Scouts are given progressive opportunities to explore the world around them.
Recently, girls in our council have participated in:
- Overnight adventures at the Sacramento Zoo
- Unique cultural ceremonies from around the world
- Fashion shows
- Career shadowing
- Try-It Saturday and more!
All experiences in Girl Scouting incorporate Discover, Connect, and Take Action. These three keys are defined as:
- Discover: Girls understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world.
- Connect: Girls care about, inspire, and team with others locally and globally.
- Take Action: Girls act to make the world a better place.
In Girl Scouting, Discover+Connect+Take Action=Leadership. All Girl Scout experiences are intentionally designed to tie to one or more of the 15 national leadership outcomes, or benefits, categorized under the three keys to leadership. The three keys to leadership replace Girl Scouting’s “four program goals.”
